Ulm's festivities 2014

This year we were not so lucky with the weather during the city's festivities weekend. Well, Friday and Saturday (18th and 19th of July) the weather was great, but on Monday it was raining and actually cold and we didn't go to the Nabada (you can see photos from last year's Nabada here).
Anyway, if I had to choose between good weather for the Lichterserenade or the Nabada, I would definitely choose the serenade so I might say that I was lucky, although all the people who wait almost all year for the Nabada would not agree with me...

Saturday was great. It was a great night, with great weather, and we stayed out until way past our bed time! First we had dinner at a Mexican restaurant overlooking the Donau, then we watched the Lichterserenade and finally we ended the night having a drink with some colleagues.

Here are a few photos of this year's Lichterserenade.

Hohenschwangau - Hohenschwangau Schloss

We have been in Hohenschwangau four times (first time in 2010 and every time we have had visits) but have only been inside the castles once. We always find the area beautiful.

The following photos were taken during two of our most recent visits to the area. In one of the visits it was sunny and warm. On the other it was cold and cloudy and it rained.

Schloss Hohenschwangau is located in the village of Hohenschwangau (photos of the village here) and was built on the remains of a fortress. It was the summer residence of the Bavarian royal family and it still belongs to the head of the family.

Rothenburg ob der Tauber stores signs

We were in Rothenburg for the first time last year in September, and we have gone back every time someone comes to visit! It's a must see!

In Rothenburg all the signs on stores, hotels or restaurants must be made of metal. No plastic is allowed. That makes for some very pretty signs.
