Sigmaringen Schloss

We visited Sigmaringen on the long weekend of the 1st of May. It was another of our day trips.
Sigmaringen is located at about 85 km from Herrlingen and is also on the Danube.

We went to Sigmaringen because of the castle, which is said to be one of the most beautiful in Baden-Württemberg, and were in for a big surprise and a bit of a history lesson!

Sigmaringen was the seat of the principality of Hohenzollern-Sigmaringen until 1850. The heir to the throne still lives with his family somewhere near the city.
When we got there we had to wait half an hour for the tour of the castle to start and we decided to visit the Fürstliches Museum first. We were very surprised to see that the current exhibition concerned the works, paintings and drawings, of Infanta Antonia of Portugal, who was the wife of one of the Princes of the house of Hohenzoller.
Later, during the visit to the castle, we were even more surprised to see that one of the biggest rooms is called "the Portuguese Gallery" as an homage to Infanta Antonia.

Summer popsicles #2

Lemon popsicles
I used this recipe but omitted the lemon zest and used less sugar. I think these were really yummy, but Michael didn't like them, although he was the one who asked for lemon popsicles! Oh well, more popsicles for me!

Strawberry popsicles
I used this recipe. So far, these are the absolute winners!

Luxembourg City

On our way back from Belgium we came through Luxembourg and stopped at Luxembourg city to have lunch and stretch our legs a bit!
It was only a two-hours stop but it was enough to see the main squares, the Ducal Palace and some beautiful sights! For sure, it's a city we would like to properly visit one day.

Summer popsicles #1

We've been having really great weather these last few days, with thermometers reaching the 32/33 degrees - pity it seems it's coming to an end and rain and thunderstorms seem to be in the very near future!

To keep refreshed I tried making fruit popsicles for dessert! After 3 different recipes in 5 days, it's safe to say that we really like this new "dessert"!

I researched some recipes online but ended up using what I already had at home.

The first try:
125gr blueberries
125gr raspberries
300gr natural unsweetened yogurt
honey, to taste
I mixed all the ingredients in a large measuring cup, blended everything together and poured it into these ice pop makers. After several hours in the freezer, this was the result:

The second try:
strawberries, about 250/300gr
6 big cherries
150 gr natural unsweetened yogurt
juice of half a lemon
sugar, to taste
Mixed strawberries with lemon juice and sugar and let it stand for a few minutes; then I added the yogurt and blended everything.

The third try:
2 ripe peaches
1 ripe banana
1/4 of an apple
150 gr natural unsweetened yogurt
honey, to taste

Things Michael makes me photograph

Mind you, I really dislike crawling creeping animals. But Michael was in need of a new background pic for his laptop! Hence the crawling, slightly disgusting, animals.
